After the return of longtime veteran manager Wander Beekhuis to Division 4 side Lille last season the expectations were high.
Still building on the squad last season Lille got caught up chasing after D4 league winners Belfast for the whole season but fell short for the division crown in the end. Securing second place and promotion to D3 was the biggest achievement for Lille so far up to that point.
This season things really started rolling. After alot of trading activity from Lille eventually a squad was formed that proved almost unbeatable.
Failing to clinch the title at home with a loss versus Mannheim last Saturday yesterday the title was secured at Hamburg with the away fans going crazy.
With a trophy cabinet finally containing a prize the next hurdle will be Division 2 where the resistance will be way harder. Beekhuis will face the task to build a squad capable to battle it out with a variety of top teams all wanting to clinch that promotion to the top tier next season.
For the remainder of this season the focus will be on grabbing the infamous Youth Cup where placement for the next round has already been secured.
