The Houston curse: Can new generation break it?

Posted by: Newswire, 2026-01-27, 6 Views

Statistically, Houston has been the best club in Wes for the last five seasons. The Texan team has led the global charts in terms of various stats, but particularly the big one --- shots on goal. Every season for the past five seasons, the Texan club has generated more SOGs in a season than any other team. In fact, in S64 Houston generated more SOGs than any other team in Wes history (for a 26 game season) --- going beyond the mighty 200SOGs mark, with 214SOGs. That's an average of 8SOGs per game.

But there are no trophies for team statistics. And despite Houston assembling one of the greatest squads of this era, the club has too few trophies to show for it. No Wes Cups, and only a handful of RC Cups and D1 titles. Persistent bad luck has been dogging the side for years. Poor goal conversion, amazing opponent goalkeeper performances, and weak goalkeeping when it matters most.

Fans and analysts have blamed team chemistry. Individually, the players are brilliant, but together they never shine when it matters. Others have pointed to the manager --- too attacking (only two defenders at the back) and weak in crutch moments. But the club is now building a new generation, marked by the trade of 8million star midfielder Kaifa to Bern. Perhaps the future generation will not be as good, but fans hope they'll be luckier.

Sometimes, it's better to be lucky than good.
